Forward Progress

Remember when I said I was no longer in competition with my friend, Randi? Well, then this happened!


Which led to this happening!


Thanks to an amazingly beautiful hike in an unmaintained area of the wilderness that included lots of up and hiking over rocky ground. It was so good!


So, now I’m gonna try to maintain my lead. Wooooooo!

Today is meal prep day. I’m making prosciutto cup frittata muffins for my breakfasts this week.

Tomorrow will be work weigh in day. I hope it goes well. I’m feeling good about my progress and motivation at the moment.

It’s Been One Week

Let’s do this post as a weekly recap, shall we?

Monday

I weighed in at the office and didn’t want to cry or hide or whatever. I just weighed, saw the weight, and moved on with my life. Because I know I’m finally working on changing it.

I walked for 30 minutes on my lunch break. I took the stairs. In fact, I’ve not taken the elevator yet this year!

Tuesday

I went to lunch with a dear friend and made good choices. Especially since that meant I wouldn’t get my lunch wak in.

I went to the gym and worked with my trainer. I informed him that I was going for a run afterward with my boyfriend and asked him not to kill my legs. He spent the last 10 minutes of our session having me stretch my legs so they’d be warmed up for the run.

I went to my boyfriend’s and did said run. I ran for ½ a mile! Without stopping. I wanted to stop. I was out of breath and I had slight pain in my shins but nothing like in the past. But I pushed through and worked on breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth and wound up finding a good rhythm there but it’s hard to change how you breathe, man. But I ran and kept up with him and then we walked back and boom! I did about a mile and a half run/walk after the gym and finally got over 10K steps on a weekday. Yay!

Wednesday

I weighed myself and I was 3 pounds lighter than I was on my official weigh in day of Friday! But I knew that wouldn’t last since Wednesday is our dinner date night and I was making macaroni and cheese and BBQ mini sausages. So, I ate sensibly all day and then I had smaller portions for dinner and a snack of strawberries. I feel good about that.

I did a 15 minute walk in the hallway at my lunch. I did not get anywhere near 10k steps but that’s just how it is somedays and I’ve decided that I am no longer competing with my friends on the FitBit, I am only competing with myself and ensuring I move and am not just plopped down in front of the TV doing nothing in the evenings. So, Wednesday was a win.

Thursday

I am now only 2 pounds lighter but still! Tomorrow is official weigh-in day and that is the number that matters the most.

I did a 15 minute hallway walk. One lap was at a speed walker rate thanks to a fast as hell co-worker. She has a great future in being a mall walking granny.

I went to the gym and gymmed super good.

Friday

Official weigh in: Down 2 pounds! 21 pounds to my goal weight.

Prepared

Over the weekend I went to Costco and stocked up on my food supplies, went to Sprouts to fill in all of the rest, walked a lot in the process, didn’t get as many steps on Sunday as I should have but I was up and not sitting so that counts for something, got a massage because I am still doing that and it is still awesome, and then I spent Sunday cooking and cleaning!

For my breakfast this week I have a really yummy fritatta that has ground pork that I seasoned with garlic powder, basil, and oregano and then topped with sliced tomatoes, fennel seeds, salt, and pepper. It’s yum.

For my lunch for the week I made Nom Nom Paleo’s Instant Pot curry lamb except I used chicken as my lamb is frozen. After I took this photo I decided that shredding the chicken made it even more delicious since I could get more sauce on more of the chicken than if I kept them whole. To keep calories down I’m not eating it on rice.

I’m Gonna Knock You Out

Today was my official weigh in day and I’m down 1 full pound which puts me 23 pounds to my goal. Yay!

I went to the gym last night and worked as hard as I could and sweated my ass off and he had me do a bit of cardio at the end and that’s great.

The women in my office are doing a Biggest Loser type challenge since most of us want to lose weight. We’re not doing any money pot or anything like that. It’s just to keep us motivated and nothing does that like a bit of healthy competition, right?

My friend, Randi, has been sick so she’s not been able to walk and I’ve been taking advantage of that fact and walking all the steps to catch up with her on the FitBit. Because I am a monster with no shame.

Tonight I will take stock of my food supplies and this weekend I will hit the Costco and the Sprouts and the Whole Foods, if necessary, and get all of the healthy food and start eating right! Because now I have people I’m accountable to and competitions to win!

New Year, new motivation. I’m for it.

Recharged

It’s now 2017. Let’s talk about my goals and plans for this space and my person!

My plan is to blog at least once a week. I shall track my workouts, my hikes, my weight, my walks, my meal prep, and my emotions. I think. That’s what I’m thinking right now.

I am finding that while I want to be accountable in regards to my weight, I am still quite vain and not really open to publicly sharing what my actual weight is. So, I’ll just share the amount of weight I want to lose and my progress towards that. So, on the 1st I did my official beginning of the year weigh in and determined that I would like to lose 24 pounds. My official weigh in days will be Fridays.

Yesterday I went on an awesome 5.5ish mile hike. It was a relatively easy hike but it covered so many different types of the terrain we have here in the desert so it was just lovely. We had to cross over some water areas due to all of the rain we’ve had recently and trudge through some pretty thick and sticky mud. At one point I was sinking! So, that added some nice weight to our legs for a bit, too. It was a great first hike of the year and a nice reminder that I LOVE going out there and hiking and being with my friends. I need to manage my schedule and find the balance again so I can do this more than once a month.

Hackberry Springs (Day Two)

Today I was back in the office and I am vowing to take the stairs and not the elevator. I am going to bring my lunch way more often than not, but that will be part of my recommitting to meal planning and eating more like I did while on the Whole30. I am going to walk the hallway and do laps in order to catch up and pass my friend, Randi, on daily steps because she has been ahead of me for far too long and that cannot stand. Healthy competition is healthy! I am also going to have healthy snacks available at my desk so I am not tempted by the ever present chocolate bowl at the front desk. I will find ways to incorporate stretching into my daily routine, whether that is at home or at my desk.

After work I went to the gym even though I feel sorta like ass. And I managed to make it the entire time and boom! First gymming of the year is now under my belt.
